The Equity & Civil Rights Compliance (ECRC) office of Georgia State University is seeking one Assistant Director of the Investigations unit. Investigations is responsible for the investigations of alleged discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation based on the protected categories, including investigations of potential violations of Title IX and other sexual misconduct and sexual harassment, as well as providing training and guidance to the University community about University and University System of Georgia policies and best practices.

    HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

    • Assist the Director of Investigations with the day-to-day operations of the unit, including conducting prompt, thorough, objective, and confidential investigations of Title IX and other AA/EEO discrimination, harassment, and retaliation complaints made by students, employees, and third parties; prepare timely and detailed reports of findings/conclusions and reports for internal use; research, draft, and submit responses to inquiries or charges from state or federal agencies and other third parties (60%).
      • Conduct reviews/intakes of AA/EEO incident reports and determine next steps or disposition in consultation with the Director (20%).
      • Provide guidance and training to campus regarding sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, as well as University and University System of Georgia policy and the complaint review and resolution process (15%).
      • Other related duties as assigned (5%).

        NOTE: The ideal candidates will have excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, critical and analytical thinking, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills. They are detail-oriented and provide excellent customer service. They are a skilled listener and effective speaker and educator, comfortable dealing with sensitive and personal subjects. They will have a legal, compliance, and/or Human Resources background and be able to interpret civil rights and equity policies for students, faculty, and staff.

        Qualifications

        Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

        • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience. 
        • Three years of experience in investigation and resolution of Title IX/Title VII/ADA/ADEA/ and other AA/EEO complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation (incl. interviewing parties and witnesses, reviewing evidence, and writing reports or summaries of findings)
        • Completion of the University System of Georgia Title IX Investigator training is mandatory but may be obtained post-hire.​​​​​​​
        • Preferred Hiring Qualifications: 

          • A JD or equivalent
          • EEO and/or Title IX Investigator certifications
          • Experience with conflict resolution and/or mediation
          • Experience with standard Microsoft Office applications
          • Experience with the student conduct software Maxient
