POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Compliance Officer and Counsel’s (CCOC) primary role is to oversee the PCOM Compliance Program, in close collaboration with the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees and members of the Administration on matters of compliance. In addition, the Chief Compliance Officer and Counsel provides legal advice to the school’s clinical education functions, the PCOM health care centers, the residency program, and with respect to academic appeals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will perform the following duties, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the PCOM Compliance Program and its related activities to address illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
  • Handles all compliance issues that may be brought to the attention of the compliance hotline (EthicsPoint) or directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and Counsel by any means.
  • Manages day-to-day operation of the Compliance Program.
  • Collaborates with other departments (e.g., Title IX/Disability Services, Risk Management, Student Affairs, Human Resources, etc.) to direct compliance issues for investigation and resolution.
  • Advises the President, the Chief Legal Affairs Officer and the Audit Committee on compliance issues.
  • Serves as the Chief Privacy Officer and works closely with the Chief Information Security Officer on related matters.
  • Administers and is a member of the Institutional Compliance Committee, and the Health Care Compliance Committee, and is a member of the Risk Management Committee and Data Governance Council.
  • Conducts/oversees compliance investigations.
  • Prepares specialized reports and materials as necessary for the Audit Committee, President and the Board of Trustees.
  • Encourages cultivation and development of an ethics and compliance minded college culture and administers related training programs together with the Chief Human Resources Officer.
  • Negotiates and approves academic affiliation agreements with clinical education and residency sites.
  • Supports the Provost’s Office with respect to academic appeals and grievances.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Organizational Relationships

  • This position is a member of the College’s Executive Leadership Team (“ELT”) reporting directly to the Chief Legal Affairs Officer and the Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees.
  • This position interacts with the President, Provost, Cabinet, Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, administrators, students, business and community leaders, outside agencies and organizations.

Minimum Requirements

  • J.D. degree with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in higher education, healthcare, compliance, or field directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Thorough understanding of laws and regulations relating to compliance matters as they apply to higher education and healthcare is required.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

  • Membership in Pennsylvania or Georgia Bar preferred. Compliance Certification(s) desirable.
