Position Function: The primary function of this professional position is providing legal support and advice to
Ball State University’s Office of Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA), which works with faculty and staff in
pursuit of external funding for research and other activities consistent with the educational mission of the
University. This position will also be involved in providing a wide range of other legal services to the
University, including, but not limited to, contract review, legal research, and other projects as assigned.
Minimum Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree
Minimum Experience: At least one to three years of relevant experience
Minimum Other: Commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards; excellent verbal and written
communication skills; ability to translate complex issues for a diverse audience; strong interpersonal skills;
flexibility; and ability to collaborate in a collegial manner with administrators, faculty, staff, students and
others
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer
sponsorship
Preferred Experience: Prior experience working with sponsored projects, government contracts, etc. Prior
experience working for an institution of higher education or a public/governmental entity
