Dear Colleagues,
As we transition into fall, we at NACUA are close to unveiling NACUA’s new strategic framework. Many of you may be already aware that in November of 2022, we began the strategic planning process under the leadership of our immediate past Board Chair,
Janine DuMontelle, and the immediate past chair of the Committee on Strategic Planning, Omar Syed. They have handed the baton to our current Board Chair, Melisssa Holloway, and current Chair of the Committee on Strategic Planning, Becca Gose, who
will shepherd the process this year.
This November, the NACUA board will convene to adopt the new framework, and once adopted, we will share it with the wider membership. The new strategic framework is the culmination of more than a year’s work by many stakeholders. The Committee on
Strategic Planning met multiple times throughout the process to discuss the research findings and to develop, refine, and enhance the draft framework. And, of course, the NACUA Board has spent a considerable amount of time at every meeting over the
past year developing the framework.
In the fall of 2022, what started a series of qualitative interviews of nearly two dozen NACUA members from diverse backgrounds, fed into a membership survey that was open to the entire NACUA community. At 12% the double-digit response rate was incredibly
strong and the demographics of the participants were roughly aligned with the demographics of our membership.
Subsequently, we fielded NACUA’s bi-annual General Counsel Institute survey, which yielded even more qualitative data. With a response rate that even exceeded the general member survey (18% for the GCI survey), the responses were very consistent
with the all-member survey. It was gratifying to see that we as a community are aligned in many ways on what direction we would like to steer NACUA.
I am grateful for everyone who has participated in this process and would like to thank you once more for taking the time to do so.
I hope to see many of you at the Fall 2023 CLE Workshop on Compliance in November, or virtually. For those of you who I do see, please know that when I count my blessings this Thanksgiving, the wonderful NACUA community will be among them.
