Alexandra Schimmer; Chair-Elect, 2025-2026

Alexandra

Alexandra T. Schimmer is Vice President and General Counsel for Denison University. She previously served as the Deputy General Counsel for The Ohio State University and, before that, as the Solicitor General for the State of Ohio, where she led the state's appellate litigation before the U.S. Supreme Court, the federal appellate courts, and the Ohio Supreme Court, and represented Ohio's public colleges and universities. Earlier in Alexandra's career, she practiced as a litigator at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP and clerked for federal judges in the Southern District of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. 

Alexandra has been an active member of NACUA since 2009 and is currently the chair elect and Chair of the Committee on Program for the Annual Conference. She also served on the Board of Directors from 2020 to 2023 and has contributed to NACUA's work through service on multiple committees, including the Committee on Strategic Planning, the Committee on Legal Education, and the Committee on Nominations and Elections. In addition to her committee service, Alexandra has presented regularly at NACUA conferences, workshops, webinars, and briefings. Alexandra holds an A.B. from Princeton University; an M.Phil. from Cambridge University, where she was a Fulbright Fellow; and her J.D. from the Yale Law School.
