About the Kathleen Santora Scholarship 

The Kathleen Santora Scholarship for Lawyers New to Higher Education was created in 2022 by the Association in honor of the retirement of its long-serving President & CEO, Kathleen S. Santora. Over the course of her 20-year, career, Kathleen Santora was known for her passionate support for lawyers new to higher education law. In recognition of her extraordinary contributions to building NACUA into the strong, vibrant organization it is today, the scholarship serves as a special enduring honor. 

Eligibility and Guidelines  

  • The scholarship may be awarded to up to two eligible attorneys new to higher education, with a preference given to those with demonstrated resource constraints.  

  • All applicants are encouraged to apply, especially those from small colleges, community colleges, minority serving institutions, and religious institutions.  

  • Recipients must have fewer than two years in higher education legal practice (though not necessarily in the practice of law generally).  

  • The recipients will receive complimentary registration to the in-person, pre-conference Lawyers New to Higher Education Program and two nights’ hotel accommodation at one of the Annual Conference hotels as well as support for travel costs.
