Student Mental Health During COVID: Telehealth, Licensure, and Responding to Students in Need

A November 2020 survey conducted by the American Council on Education revealed that student mental health was the most often identified concern among respondent college presidents.  As the nation’s colleges and universities grapple with a global pandemic and serious issues related to financial sustainability, student mental health topped the list, with COVID exacerbating anxiety and depression across all sectors of society, including the student population. In this 2-hour webinar, Kevin Kruger, President & CEO of NASPA will discuss the prevailing mental health concerns affecting college students as well as some of the modalities that campuses are using to address student mental health during the pandemic.  He will be joined by two NACUA member attorneys who will address:

  • Expanding mental health services on campus,
  • State licensure issues,
  • Insurance, liability, and risk mitigation,
  • Leaves of absence and other tools for responding to students who present a risk of self-harm,
  • Tort liability.

Who Should Attend?

This webinar will be of interest to inside and outside counsel to colleges and universities, as well as administrators including student affairs staff, student health staff, and disability services staff.
