Mary Jo Dively; Member, 2021-2024

Mary Jo Dively has been Vice President and General Counsel for Carnegie Mellon University since 2002, and recently was appointed Corporate Secretary as well.  Prior to joining Carnegie Mellon, she was in private practice for nineteen years, most recently as partner in the national law firm, Reed Smith, as head of its Technology, Media and Communications Group. She is a member of the Board of FNB Corporation.  She is a member of the American Law Institute; and has served as one of Pennsylvania's appointed Commissioners to the Uniform Law Conference, where she was a member of the Drafting Committee for UPMIFA.  Within her local community, Mary Jo has been a member of the Board of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh since 1994, and chaired that Board for fourteen years, and is a member of the Board of Visitors of the UPMC Health System.  She and her husband, Lane, are the parents of triplet boys who are proud alumni of Carnegie Mellon University.

Mary Jo has been a NACUA member since 2002. She has served on the Committee on Legal Education and currently serves as the Vice Chair of the committee. She has also served on the Committee on Program for Annual Conference. She has also spoken or moderated at many sessions of NACUA CLE workshops, Annual Conferences, webinars, General Counsel Institutes and Lawyers New to Higher Education Workshops.

Mary Jo received her B.A. and B.S. from the University of Kansas and her J.D. from the Vanderbilt University School of Law.
