Steven Glenn Olswang - 1997

Steven Glenn Olswang, of Washington. Steve Olswang is Vice Provost and Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in the College of Education, University of Washington. His name is synonymous with scholarship on faculty and other academic employment issues. Indeed, the list of books, articles, chapters, monographs and other publications for which he is either an author or co-author numbers more than 35. Of these, seven are articles that have been published in the Journal of College and University Law. Mr. Olswang has also made over 60 presentations, many of which were accompanied by a written paper or outline.

Mr. Olswang has been an active member of NACUA for more than 15 years. He was a member of the Publications Committee for five years (two as co-chair), a member of the JCUL Editorial Board for four years, and a member of the Legal Writing Competition Committee for two years. Moreover, he has spoken at numerous NACUA CLE workshops and Annual Conferences.

Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Olswang was Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs and Assistant to the Provost, University of Washington. He is a former Commissioner, Commission on Col-leges, Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges and a former Trustee of the Northwest Association. He was awarded the Dis-tinguished Service Award from the Association for the Study of Higher Education, and, as a recipient of a J. William Fulbright Academic Administrator Fellowship, served as a Visiting Fellow at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge and Visiting Professor, University of Reading, United Kingdom from September 1994- January 1995.
