A fraternity hosts a rush event during the first weekend of the fall semester. The club rugby team drives across state lines to participate in a tournament. The robotics club travels to China to debut its newest creation in an international competition. Whether we are talking about Greek Life, club sports, student government, religious student organizations, or other student groups, student organizations are part of the fabric of college and university life. Student organizations greatly enhance the college experience, all the while presenting various risks and liabilities.
Drawing from the knowledge and experience of two NACUA member practitioners, this webinar will explore how best to manage the risks and liabilities of student organizations through:
- Formalized recognition systems,
- Conduct expectations and enforcement mechanisms, and
- Strategies for managing financial, travel, reputational, and other risks.
The webinar will also explore special issues related to specific student organizations, such as student newspapers, Greek Life, and student government and will help you to think about the myriad issues you should consider when devising or enhancing the institution’s risk management plan with respect to student organizations.
Who Should Attend
This webinar will be of interest to general counsel and attorneys who advise student affairs, as well as student affairs administrators and institutional risk managers.
