Meetings FAQs

General Registration 

• I am employed by an institution but have not received my bar results yet. Can I register for a meeting advertised to attorneys only?

No. 

• Who can register for the Annual Conference/Lawyers New to Higher Education Workshop/General Counsel Roundtables?

See eligibility criteria listed on the registration page.  

• If I am a non-member from a member institution attending the meeting, do I need to provide an endorsement letter?

Yes. You qualify for the Member Institution Representative rate. Send a non-member registration form and endorsement letter to the Meetings and Offices Services Assistant. The letter must be from your institution's primary representative. To find out the name of your institution's Primary Representative click here. If approved to attend, you will receive a confirmation email along with an invoice.  

• If I am a non-member from a non-member institution attending the meeting, do I need to provide an endorsement letter?

Yes. Please send a non-member registration form and endorsement letter to the Sarah Romano at sromano@nacua.org. The letter must be from your institution's General Counsel or President. You must also affirm that you meet NACUA's eligibility requirement If approved to attend, you will receive a confirmation email along with an invoice.  

• Can I partially attend the Annual Conference? (One Day vs. Two Days)

Yes, please email Sarah Romano at sromano@nacua.org with your request. If you are going to attend more than one day, the full registration fee applies. 

• Can you register me as soon as you receive the form?

Registration forms and payments must be received together and may take up to 2 weeks to process. Once the registration has been processed, the registrant will receive a confirmation via email. 

• Can I attend both the Lawyers New to Higher Education Workshop and the General Counsel Roundtables?

Yes. 

• Who can register for the General Counsel Roundtables?

Only in-house counsel functioning as the Chief Legal Officer / General Counsel of a college or university are eligible to attend. Deputy or Associate General Counsel are not eligible to attend. The roundtables are not open to members from associate member institutions or to associate individual members. 

• I am currently a non-member but I am in the process of applying for membership. May I receive the member registration rate?

Yes, you may receive the member registration rate if your membership application has been preapproved by the Manager of Membership and Marketing. Please be sure to submit both the completed membership application and member registration form together. 

• I need to cancel. Can another attorney attend in my place?

Yes, but only if they meet the eligibility requirements. Please submit a registration form and any other supporting documentation to Sarah Romano at sromano@nacua.org.

 

Speaker Registration 

• If I’m a member speaker, moderator, discussion group leader and only coming to the Annual Conference for the session I am participating in, do I need to register?

Yes. 

• If I’m a member speaker, moderator, or discussion group leader, and only coming to the Annual Conference for the session I am participating in, do I need to pay the registration fee?

No. 

• Do member speakers have to pay the registration fee?

Yes. 

• If I’m a non-member speaker at the Annual Conference, do I need to register?

Yes. 

• If I’m a non-member speaker at the Annual Conference, do I need to pay the registration fee?

Yes.

• If I’m a non-member speaker at the Annual Conference, does NACUA cover my travel expense?

No, unless that has been specifically agreed to in advance by NACUA. 

• Does NACUA cover member speaker travel/lodging expenses?

No. 

• Do member moderators, discussion group leaders have to pay the registration fee?

Yes. 

• Do session coordinators have to pay the registration fee?

Yes.  

• If I’m a leader of one of the General Counsel Roundtables at the Annual Conference, do I have to pay the registration fee for the roundtable?

No. 

• If I’m speaking at the Lawyers New to Higher Education Workshop, do I need to pay the registration fee for the workshop?

No. 

• If I am a recipient of a NACUA Award during that year’s Annual Conference, are my guests able to attend the Opening Reception following the Awards Ceremony for free?

Yes. 

 

Miscellaneous  

• Can I receive an advance copy of the attendee roster?

No, the attendee roster is sent to registered attendees a week before the conference. It is attached to the attendee checklist. 

• What is the binder of materials? Why does it cost extra?

The binder of materials contains paper copies of most of the session materials. The Annual Conference binder of materials is available for $229 to cover the cost of production. Attendees will automatically receive a link to access the materials online in the attendee checklist a week before the conference.
