Three newsy items for our members: managing a CLE workshop in a snowstorm; release of NACUA’s App; and results of the General Counsel survey.
We just completed our CLE workshop on employment law in Philadelphia in the middle of a snowstorm! More than 150 members braved the storm and flight delays to join us – thank you! Special kudos to the nine speakers who stepped up to the plate for speakers who could not make it because of the weather, with notice of a day or less. Those are the moments when everyone gets to see the generosity of colleagues who are willing to share their expertise, even at the last minute. Thanks to everyone who helped staff to make the workshop a success!
We also released NACUA’s App, allowing members instant access to every aspect of the conference, including the schedule, materials, speakers and attendees, hotel maps and much more. Watch for the App in preparation for the Annual Conference. We hope to see many of you in Minneapolis.
I surveyed all of NACUA’s in-house chief legal officers to get their thoughts on key issues they face each day and trends they anticipate over the next 3-5 years. Here is a link to the results of the survey. We will use the results to plan the 2019 General Counsel Institute, and also as we plan other programs over the course of the next couple of years. The breadth of issues identified is significant, with a couple of key themes looming large. First is the changing perception of higher education and how that impacts the institution and our members’ practice; and the growing number of hats being worn by the GC. Please take a little time to review the results.
