On August 23, 2016, the National Labor Relations Board held that any students who perform services in connection with their education are employees, eligible to organize and bargain. This holding, overturning the Board’s 2004 decision in Brown University, has significant implications for private colleges and universities.
Two NACUA members who have extensive experience with graduate student bargaining will share their insights on:
- The NLRB decision and its likely impacts
- How colleges and universities can prepare now for increased union activity in the future
- How bargaining with graduate students differs from other types of collective bargaining
This webinar will be of interest to general counsel and attorneys involved in union negotiations, vice presidents and deans of graduate schools, graduate school administrators, human resources and labor relations personnel as well as others who are or could be involved with institutional responses to organizing or bargaining with graduate or undergraduate student employees.
