Higher Education Employment Law: Essential Updates, Emerging Issues, and New Challenges

Higher education employment law is influenced not only by statutes and regulations but also by agency enforcement priorities and societal and campus trends.  Over the past few years, institutions of higher education have navigated shifts in societal and campus trends while witnessing concomitant shifts in legislative, regulatory and agency enforcement priorities. Meanwhile, activity in the courts remains high, with retaliation and whistleblower claims, allegations of faculty misconduct, and retirement plan litigation occupying court dockets.

This program – the essential legal update for college and university counsel and administrators with responsibility for labor and employment matters at their institutions – will examine the impact of these shifts while providing essential updates on emerging higher education employment law issues. Sessions will cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Key legislative, agency, and court employment law actions affecting higher education institutions
  • Employee speech in the university setting
  • Sexual harassment in the academic workplace
  • Managing FMLA and ADA issues on campus
  • Addressing faculty conduct and performance issues
  • Retirement plan litigation
  • And more!

Please join your colleagues in Philadelphia, PA for this opportunity to learn from experts and discuss areas of common concern.
