And now, the continuation of NACUA’s strategic priorities (see prior editions of NACUANEWS for the first three) with Strategic Priority IV of seven. In this ongoing NACUANEWS series, I want to be certain that our members are well acquainted with the key strategic initiatives of the Association. Strategic Priority IV:
"Continue to Review and Modify CLE Programming and Learning to Meet Needs of Members"
This priority is at the center of NACUA’s work and is an essential focus of our work as we seek continued involvement of volunteer members to ensure the success of our programming efforts. Continuous review and improvement are essential ingredients to our mission and they manifest themselves in many ways.
- We gather information about our members, including data on demographics and areas of expertise, to help identify a broadly diverse group of speakers and moderators. We do so through annual demographic surveys, new member surveys and regular updates to the NACUA online directory that includes member bios and areas of expertise.
- We incorporate consideration of emerging trends in higher education into planning efforts for all of NACUA’s programming. We have also begun to implement programming and resources related to the business of higher education, and have formed collaborative relationships with other associations in doing so.
- We offer programming based on member needs, including information on important new statutes, regulations, cases, compliance obligations or other developments in higher education law. Programs and services include: webinars, online courses and CLE workshops on compliance; an Annual Conference track on regulation and compliance; General Counsel Institutes; and the Higher Education Compliance Alliance website.
- We conduct regular assessments of all CLE programming through session and overall meeting evaluations, and consider new approaches toward programming and learning for all live meetings. We also conduct regular assessments of webinars and online courses as part of our overall continuing legal education assessment.
