NACUANEWS Volume 105

CEO’s Corner

As we approach the end of many academic years on your campuses, and look back on a challenging year for our members in so many ways, I marvel at NACUA members’ willingness to engage with each other and with our association.  Our membership has grown to more than 1800 campuses and more than 4800 attorneys strong, and yet we remain the most collegial and responsive groups of members ever.

I can provide multiple examples of NACUA members being there for each other — a crisis on campus followed by several NACUA members talking through ways to address it in late-night communications with the campus attorney; a retirement reception of a long-time member where NACUA members arrived in force to say thanks and to bid adieu; numerous NACUA members reaching out to the institution and family after the sudden death of a beloved NACUA member; new members of NACUA feeling overwhelmed by a new position and their gratitude that veteran members actually respond to their calls for assistance; and so many more.  Thank you for continuing to model NACUA’s values of quality, service, civility, collegiality, respect, diversity and inclusiveness.

We have also received close to 400 volunteers for committees for the next fiscal year — thank you! And we have more than 200 Annual Conference speakers volunteering their time and expertise to make our Annual Conference in Minneapolis June 24-27, 2018 a great success.  We have more than 1280 registrants and can’t wait to see all of you.  If you haven’t already registered, you can do so here. Thank you for being such great members — the staff enjoys our work with you every day!
