The University of Michigan (U-M) Office of the Vice President and General Counsel (OGC) provides legal counsel to U-M’s Ann Arbor, Flint, and Dearborn campuses. OGC is seeking an attorney who will advise the academic leadership of the University on a full range of matters related to faculty and academic affairs. The attorney will work with clients on all three campuses. The attorney will have specific responsibility for providing legal advice regarding faculty personnel matters and academic collective bargaining, overseeing litigation involving faculty employment, and advising on issues of shared governance, tenure, and academic freedom, and other matters as they arise.
The requirements for this position include, but are not limited to, experience as legal counsel in or for colleges or universities related to faculty affairs matters; as least five years as an attorney; and admission to the State Bar of Michigan, or eligibility for admission. Salary is commensurate with experience.
