With a dual reporting structure to the General Counsel of the University of California system- wide and the Chancellor of UC Davis, the Chief Campus Counsel will be a strategic business and legal partner.  The CCC will advise the Chancellor and other internal clients and also run the Davis Campus legal function. As UCD is a large, complex, multi-faceted graduate and undergraduate institution with a rich history of innovation on all fronts, the Chief Campus Counsel’s legal role will reflect that complexity and challenge. It is a highly visible role and requires transparency, collaboration, and a wide-angle lens when viewing the legal issues confronting the University.

Competitive with other public university executive-level positions within California.

J.D. from an accredited law school and a member, in good standing, of the California Bar Association (or a willingness to sit for and pass the CA Bar exam within one year from commencement of work); at least 15 years of complex, high-level legal experience preferably including complex business transactions and three or more years’ experience managing attorneys.  Demonstrated ability to pivot nimbly among competing demands and constituencies.   A true consensus builder and team player.
