I.          POSITION PURPOSE

The Consultant position is responsible for liaising between United Educators’ (UE) customers (i.e. brokers and members) and the Risk Management Department to 1) promote and help schools apply UE resources and expertise; 2) service customer needs, ensuring a delightful and brand appropriate customer experience; 3) represent Risk Management as part of the UE brand to prospects and the broader education community; 4) cull insights from experiences and tools to drive UE expertise and product development.

II.        MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • JD preferred, BA required
  • 5+ years of experience in risk management function, or legal or business leadership position at higher education, independent K12 schools, or K12 public schools
  • 2+ years of experience in customer-facing role
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Strong customer relationship management skills
  • Passion for serving education
  • Ability to gather and synthesize disparate data points and discern and communicate key insights
  • Willingness and ability to learn UE resources, claims trends, new risk topics, and evolving compliance needs for education
  • Strong listening and promotion skills; ability to translate features to benefits within context of specific institution’s needs and culture
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across different stakeholders both internally and externally, including researchers, underwriters, salespeople, attorneys, brokers, education institution Risk Managers, CFOs, HR Directors, Presidents, among others
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently on different types of activities, managing to outcome rather than task
  • Maintains high quality and productivity standards, demonstrating accuracy, neatness, consistency, and thoroughness in work
  • Ability to thrive in environment of change
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 50%)

III.       MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Create and deliver presentations to external constituents that adequately represent United Educators’ Risk Management thought leadership in substance and professionalism, address specific audience (or campus) needs appropriately, and support Business Development or Stewardship as necessary;
  • Provide prompt and relevant response to inquiries from brokers and members to UE regarding risk management concerns, citing internal and external resources, referencing other members or governing body guidelines as appropriate, maintaining UE communication and content standards, and managing time spent on requests appropriately;
  • Drive and support various market research and program development initiatives, distilling key insights from market feedback, iterating product appropriately, collaborating with researchers and designers appropriately, and maintaining alignment with UE business priorities
  • Occasionally write reports or produce content pieces related to data sets from electronic surveys, assessments, or campus projects
  • Consistently demonstrate and maintain current and extensive knowledge of United Educators’ Risk Management resources
  • Record and track all member and broker interactions with consistency in both form and substance in customer management system, informing UE organization in usable and meaningful way
