News from the Nation’s Capital
Thursday, June 28, 8:00 am – 9:00 am
With the arrival of a new Congress and the 2008 presidential campaign
NACUA is pleased to welcome back to our Annual Conference Dr. L. Randolph Lowry III. Now President of Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Lowry ishe founder of the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University. He is a nationally recognized expert in negotiation, dispute resolution and mediation. NACUA members are regularly called upon to employ negotiating skills in both their professional and personal lives. Whether negotiating litigation settlements, employment agreements, the terms of institutional policies or even a teenager’s curfew or allowance, or a family holiday gathering, certain principles of negotiation are timeless, tested and true. In this fast-paced, entertaining and interactive presentation using real-life scenarios, Dr. Lowry will demonstrate how you can truly negotiate anything once you understand the principles and dynamics of the negotiation process. Dr. Lowry’s presentations at NACUA’s 2002 Annual Conference drew packed session rooms and outstanding reviews. NACUA is proud to have him as the plenary speaker for our 2007 Annual Conference. Dr. Lowry will examine the subject of his plenary session in even greater depth in a separate concurrent conference session immediately following the plenary session (3:00 pm – 4:15 pm on Wed. June 27).
Dr. Lowry holds a B.A. in political science and a master’s degree in public administration from Pepperdine University. He received his J.D. from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN. In 1986 he joined the law school faculty at Pepperdine and in September 2005 was inaugurated as the 17th president of Lipscomb University. He is an annual visiting professor at Vermont Law School and the City University of Hong Kong, and has taught in China, Australia and Italy. His consulting and training practice has included work in the Netherlands, India and Argentina.
already in its early stages, there is a new political climate in Washington, DC. Join us for this special session looking at legislative and regulatory
developments at the federal level, plus
an insider's look at the new Congress
