A Conversation on the War on Terrorism and Higher Education Wednesday, June 28, 8:30 a.m. 10:00 a.m. Join NACUA Members Nicholas Rostow (University Counsel and Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs, SUNY System and former General Counsel, U.S. Mission to the United Nations; former Legal Adviser to the National Security Council; and former Staff Director to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence), Wendy White (Senior Vice President and General Counsel, University of Pennsylvania), and Martin Michaelson (Hogan & Hartson, Washington, DC) for this special session focusing on terrorist threats to the United States and the impact of the war on terrorism on colleges and universities. Nicholas Rostow will provide a personal perspective on the nature and scope of the terrorist threat based on his extensive government experience. Wendy White and Martin Michaelson will bring their perspective and extensive experience representing colleges and universities as in-house and external counsel to a conversation on the specific terrorist threats to American colleges and universities, the impact of anti-terrorist legislation and regulations, and how to strike the proper balance between considerations of national security, personal freedoms, and the free and open pursuit of knowledge. TIAA-CREF Individual Counseling Sessions at the Annual Conference Representatives from TIAA-CREF will be
available Sunday, June 25 - Tuesday, June 27 for scheduled sessions to
confer with TIAA-CREF participants on their personal plans for retirement. A photo I.D.
and Social Security number are needed to schedule your personal consultation. Attendees
will be able to schedule their sessions in advance of the conference via the TIAA-CREF
website or on-site at the conference in the Registration Area. Small
