Speakers Darrell VanDeusen is a graduate of Colgate
University and Duke University Law School. His practice at the Baltimore firm Kollman
& Saucier, P.A., almost exclusively involves the national representation of public and
private sector employers in all areas of labor and employment law. He has been a member of
NACUA since 1996. Darrell teaches Employment Discrimination Law and coaches the Labor Law
Moot Court team at the University of Baltimore Law School, where he was recognized as the
adjunct faculty member of the year in 2001. Darrell writes on employment law, and his
treatise on the Family and Medical Leave Act is available through Lexis/Nexis publications
as a part of its Labor and Employment Law series. He is the general editor of Matthew
Bender's Employment Discrimination Expediter, and is on the editorial board of Matthew
Bender's Labor and Employment Bulletin. Darrell was named one of the "Outstanding
Lawyers in America" in 2003, and one of the top management-side labor attorneys in
Maryland in the 2005 and 2006 editions of the Chambers USA publication, "America's
Leading Business Lawyers." He also has been selected as a mediator and expert witness
in labor and employment law matters. Susan L. Wheeler is Policy & Legal Affairs Advisor for James Madison University in Virginia. Ms. Wheeler has presented at various higher education law conferences, including those sponsored by NACUA (NACUA), the Stetson University College of Laws Annual Conference on Law and Higher Education, the Texas Association of State University Attorneys, the University of Houstons Institute of Higher Education Law and Governance, and the University of North Texass Higher Education Law Conference. She has served on numerous NACUA committees and currently serves on the Board of Directors of NACUA. She previously served as Associate General Counsel, University Counsel, and Interim General Counsel at the University of Houston System, as a briefing attorney and research attorney for the First Court of Appeals in Houston, Texas, and as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas. She is a graduate of the University of Texas Law School, and is licensed in Texas and Virginia. |
