Compliance continues to be a major focus and concern for institutions of higher education. Increasing scrutiny of college and university operations and transactions by a wide variety of third parties, ranging from the federal and state governments, alumni and donors, the media and the general public, means that  implementing and managing effective compliance measures, from the boardroom to the classroom, is of increasing importance. Having formal compliance programs in place can also be an effective defense or mitigating factor in legal actions against the institution. This special one-day workshop will examine effective institutional compliance practices and the role of legal counsel and other campus officials managing and implementing compliance programs. Topics will address compliance from an institutionwide perspective, including:

*Compliance, The President and the Board of Trustees
*Compliance: One Institution’s Story
*Institutional Hot-Lines: Red Hot-Red Flag or Both?

Additional concurrent sessions will address compliance in specific areas, office or programs, including:

*The Compliant Institutional Records Retention Policy
*Compliance for Information Security and Privacy
*Compliance by Affiliated Foundations and Other Related Entities
*Compliance in International and Overseas Programs
*Compliance and Foreign Students and Faculty

The program will conclude with a session on “Compliance and the General Counsel: What to do When the Client is Non-Compliant.” To see a detailed workshop schedule, click here.

Please join your NACUA colleagues and an experienced group of NACUA panelists for this in-depth look at current compliance issues and practices on campus.
