Access to Student Addresses

Policy Statement

All requests for computer-generated student labels and lists of addresses are processed through the Department of Student Life except for data on newly admitted students and in those instances where individual colleges and departments have the ability to process this information for students that they specifically serve. This office will act as a clearinghouse for requests to insure that the policy is appropriately enforced.

A. No labels will be issued to a non-student or non-University group for whatever purpose unless some clear reason for an exception is determined by the Department of Student Life to be consistent with the educational mission of the University. In some cases where the Department of Student Life feels that the material from non-University concerns would be beneficial to UVM students, they will assist in locating distribution points for those materials.

B. No labels will be given to any group without receiving a written copy of what is being mailed.

C. All labels must be signed for when they are picked up to verify that the labels will be used accordingly. Requests for labels that are being processed through the University's Mail Services must be signed for in advance.
