The possession, use, or sale of alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs by students regardless of age is prohibited on the University campus and in all University facilities. Students found guilty are subject to disciplinary action as provided in the Student Code of Conduct. The law also states that anyone arrested for providing alcoholic beverages to a minor must pay a mandatory $1,000 fine. A valid Millersville University Identification Card is required for all enrolled students. First-year students have I.D. pictures taken and receive their ID card during summer orientation. Other first-time or re-entering students must have their pictures taken at the Campus I.D. Office in the lobby of Boyer Hall. There is no charge for the initial identification card. Replacement cards can be obtained, for a fee, at the Campus I.D. Office in the lobby of Boyer Hall. Policy for Leaves of Absence and Withdrawals A student experiencing mental health difficulties may voluntarily request a leave of absence or withdraw* from the University. The University also reserves the right to require a leave of absence or withdrawal of a student who is exhibiting behavior which harms, endangers or threatens himself/herself or others in order to ensure the health and safety of the student and/or the University community. Required Leaves of Absence or Withdrawals The University will review the acts of students who engage in behavior deemed to be detrimental either to themselves, to others or to the University environment. Examples of such behavior include but are not limited to: physical threats to oneself or others; disorderly conduct; inability to care for oneself or other aberrant behavior. whether voluntarily or involuntarily, he/she will be required to seek an evaluation and
treatment as a condition of returning to the University. When a student seeks
readmission after completing a leave of absence or withdrawing, he/she will be required to
have his/her treatment provider send a written report to the Director of the Counseling
Center. The report must include the following and be issued by a licensed
psychologist/psychiatrist: A. Evaluation of ability to function in the University environment and live in student housing, if applicable. B. Statement regarding students potential threat to himself/herself or the University community. C. Recommendations for continued treatment. Act of 1974, also known as the Buckley Amendment, is a federal law that provides students
with the right to review their academic records, the right to challenge the contents of
the records, and the right to confidentiality of records. The University policy on the
confidentiality of student records is available for students in the Office of the Vice
President for One aspect of the Buckley Amendment which the University wishes students to understand is that basic directory information may be disclosed without prior consent of the student. In the case of athletes, that disclosure extends to relevant personal data and athletic accomplishments. The University public relations office uses directory information from a student's record to report through appropriate media achievements by students in academic or extracurricular activities. Students may request that such information not be released by filing a written request during the first two weeks of each semester with the Registrar's Office. Students have the right to file a complaint
about the contents of their records or about alleged wrongful disclosures of information.
Students can file such a complaint with the Vice President for All full-time undergraduate students (those enrolled for 12 or more credits at the end of the drop/add period in spring or fall) are normally required to live in University residence halls until they have attempted 60 credit hours OR they have completed four regular (fall or spring) semesters, whichever occurs first. The University reserves the right to make other exceptions it deems appropriate. Questions regarding this policy and requests for exceptions to it should be directed to the Director of Housing and Residential Programs. Sales, solicitation, distributions and advertising on the Millersville campus by individuals or agencies outside the University is prohibited without prior approval of the University. Offically recognized campus organizations may sponsor sales, solicit funds or advertise projects on campus after completion of appropriate forms and receiving approval of the Student Programs Office. Sales in dormitories must also receive the approval of the Resident Student Association and of the appropriate residence hall staff. An individual, group, or group affiliate
must seek permission to solicite in/at The sale of food items by an individual, group, or group affilitate is strickly prohibited unless authorized by Dining Services (872-3443). The type of food to be sold, as well as health and safety issues, will be considered in making a determination. Should an individual, group, or group affiliate wish to solicit spectators, they must contact the Student Programs Office (872-3506). All requests must be submitted on the appropriate form to the Student Programs Office within four (4) business days of the said event for the site requested. Sales of items of any kind may only be sold at designated tables. Tables may be reserved at the stadium/gym to solicit spectators. The tables will be placed at a designated location, and may not be moved from the designated location (most likely under the stands at the Stadium and at the corner near the ticket office in Pucillo). All solicitation items must be presented for review by the Student Programs Office when the request is made.
