NACUA's Life Membership Award

Barbara F. Geffen - 2007

Barbara F. Geffen recently retired from the position of General Counsel and Secretary of the Board of Trustees at the University of Tulsa after 15 years of service. She first joined NACUA in 1990 and since then has served on numerous committees, including leadership roles as Chair of the Committee on Information Services from 1996-1998, Chair of the Information Policy Steering Committee from 1997-1998, and Chair of the Task Force on NACUANET from 1994-1995. She was a member of the Board of Directors from 1996-1999. Ms. Geffen received her B.A. from Southern Methodist University and her J.D. from Saint Louis University. Prior to assuming her position at the University of Tulsa, she was in private practice.

Ms. Geffen has been a tremendous asset to her NACUA colleagues for many years. She has spoken at NACUA workshops and annual conferences, and has epitomized the values of NACUANET, giving selflessly of her time and expertise. She always was willing to assist others on a wide variety of issues, and to share her knowledge and experience. She often served as a mentor and informal advisor to her colleagues who also worked in small law offices.

Those who know Barbara Geffen know that she has been a generous and gracious contributor to NACUA for more than 15 years. We are pleased to recognize those contributions and the many years of service that she gave to the University of Tulsa by bestowing on her Life Membership in the Association.
