NACUA's First Decade Award

Charlotte F. Westerhaus - 2008

Charlotte F. Westerhaus leads the recently created Diversity and Inclusion office at the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Charlotte earned a B.S. in Journalism and M.Ed. from Ohio University. She earned her J.D. from Indiana University, Bloomington. Prior to her work at NCAA, Ms. Westerhaus was also an attorney with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, Milwaukee, an associate attorney with the Milwaukee law firm of Foley & Lardner, law clerk to the Honorable Justice Brent E. Dickson of the Indiana Supreme Court, the director of Purdue University’s affirmative action office, the Assistant to the Chancellor for Equity and Diversity at the University of Wisconsin, Parkside, and Assistant to the President and Director of Equal Opportunity and Diversity at the University of Iowa.

Ms. Westerhaus has been a member of NACUA since 1999. She has served on NACUA’s Committee on Legal Education, Committee on Strategic Planning, and Committee on Program for Annual Conference. She has served as a speaker, moderator, or discussion leader twelve times throughout her NACUA membership. She is continually recognized by the NACUA membership as a resource on diversity issues in higher education, as well as a thoughtful leader in the Association’s commitment to pursuing its strategic goals.

NACUA is pleased to recognize Charlotte Westerhaus as a recipient of the First Decade Award for her outstanding service to the Association and to the practice of higher education law in her first nine years of membership.
